The Old Robinite Association was founded in 1960 with the simple objective of helping members - anyone who had been in Robinites while at Charterhouse - to keep in touch and share common interests. Among the founding members were Marcus Colby, Sir George Labouchere and Bill Blackstone. They instituted an annual dinner, which has been held in London - usually on the second Tuesday in May - ever since.
Today, the officers of the ORA include: President - Brian Goodliffe (51); Chairman - Nigel Legge (75); Hon Secretary - Nick Fitzherbert (75); and Hon Treasurer - Ivan Fitzherbert (77).
Since Nigel Legge became Chairman, the committe has been pursuing new initiatives, such as ways to help current-day Robinites, the potential for other events during the year, using new technology to improve communication. And above all, having some fun!
2005 was the centenary of Robinites as a full house and the dinner celebrated that centenary, which was also marked by the creation of a special Old Robinite tie.
In 2006 we moved to a larger venue - the East India Club in St James's Square - and attracted 100 ORs and OC guests. If you click onto '2008 Dinner' and scroll down you can see who came, together with photographs.
